For more than a century the Spisser SAS has been supplying the majority of the famous wood carvers of Val Gardena with lime and stone pine wood. The family-run sawmill in Ortisei in Val Gardena offers you custom-made manufactures and cuts of the wood.
The wood is exclusively air-dried, which is particularly beneficial for carving, as wood that is dried too quickly becomes too brittle and can therefore no longer be processed so well.
As experts in this field for many years, we know what is important: high-quality materials, precise working and the consideration of your individual wishes. The range of wood is aimed at carpenters, wood carvers, wood turners and other construction companies.

The sawmill offers high-quality Swiss stone pine and lime wood, which is ideal for carving, woodturning work and joinery.

Swiss stone pine

Everyone who likes to work with wood appreciates the diverse processing and application possibilities of this wood. The typical reddish-brown knots have a high gloss, give the surface a unique appearance. Our carefully selected Swiss stone pine wood, cut in our sawmill, comes from the mountain forests of South Tyrol and Trentino.
Swiss stone pine is also becoming increasingly interesting for carpenters. Research at various institutes has proven that the essential oils abundantly contained in Swiss stone pine have a calming effect on the cardiovascular system. This property is ideal for bedrooms; Swiss stone pine wood improves the quality of sleep.

Lime wood

Lime wood is particularly good for carving, as it is a rather soft wood. Our lime wood comes from the Croatian forests. We select the tree trunks with the fibre suitable for carving on site to meet the requirements of wood carvers and sculptors. The wood is exclusively air-dried. The thickness of the boards goes from up to 40 mm to 120 mm.
